The Boston Celtics held off a spirited comeback attempt from the Dallas Mavericks to win Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals 106-98 on Saturday night. The victory gives Boston a 3-0 lead in the series, putting them just one win away from capturing their 18th NBA championship.
The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who scored a game-high 30 points. Jaylen Brown added 25 points, and Marcus Smart chipped in with 18 points.
The Mavericks were paced by Luka Dončić, who had 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Spencer Dinwiddie added 21 points, and Reggie Bullock scored 18 points.
The Mavericks made a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting the Celtics' lead to just three points with less than two minutes remaining. However, the Celtics were able to hold on for the win, thanks in part to some key defensive plays by Smart and Robert Williams III.
