England record-breaking 498: A new ODI high score
England have broken their own world record for the highest score in ODI cricket after crunching 498-4 to beat the Netherlands by 232 runs in Amstelveen.
Jos Buttler led the way with an astonishing 162 from 70 balls, while Dawid Malan (125) and Phil Salt (122) also hit centuries. Liam Livingstone weighed in with a brutal 66 from 22 balls as England plundered 26 sixes and 31 fours in their 50 overs.
The previous record of 481-6 was set by England against Australia at Trent Bridge in 2018. It was also the first time that a team had ever scored 500 runs in an ODI.
Buttler's innings was particularly remarkable, as he reached his century from just 47 balls. He hit 14 sixes and seven fours in his knock, which was the fastest ODI century by an Englishman.
Malan and Salt also played their part in England's record-breaking total. Malan's innings was more measured than Buttler's, but he still reached his century from just 82 balls. Salt, meanwhile, was even more aggressive than Buttler, hitting 12 fours and six sixes in his 50-ball knock.
