Metro Phoenix 9/11 events: 2024 memorials and other tributes

Remembrances planned for 23rd anniversary

Metro Phoenix communities are planning memorials and other events to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, honoring the lives lost and reflecting on the impact the attacks had on the nation.

Gilbert

The town of Gilbert will hold its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Gilbert Civic Center on Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors, a moment of silence, and remarks from Mayor Brigette Peterson.

Glendale

The city of Glendale will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Glendale Heroes Regional Park on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will include a candlelight vigil, a performance by the Glendale Symphony Orchestra, and remarks from Mayor Jerry Weiers.

Mesa

The city of Mesa will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Mesa Convention Center on Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors, a moment of silence, and remarks from Mayor John Giles.

Phoenix

The city of Phoenix will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Arizona State Capitol on Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors, a moment of silence, and remarks from Governor Doug Ducey.

Scottsdale

The city of Scottsdale will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Scottsdale Civic Center on Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors, a moment of silence, and remarks from Mayor David Ortega.

Tempe

The city of Tempe will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Tempe Beach Park on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of the colors, a moment of silence, and remarks from Mayor Corey Woods.
